About Alayah:
Alayah Benavidez, Miss United States 2016, is pursuing her PhD in American Literature at the University of Texas at San Antonio. At a young age Alayah discovered a passion for literature and as an adult has seen first hand how her love of reading and writing has helped her to develop confidence in testing and public speaking. This is what led Alayah to develop her own campaign, “Read The Way”, which focuses on childhood literacy. In addition to being an advocate for literacy Alayah is a professional model and can be seen in ads and magazines across the country and abroad.
